Automotive Service Technician

Summary
McKeown Motor Sales of Springbrook, ON is currently seeking an Automotive Service Technician to inspect, maintain and repair automobiles. He/she will perform basic care maintenance like tire rotations and oil changes, diagnosing complex problems, and performing vehicle repairs.

Qualifications
•High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, Automotive service technician trade certification
•Experience in automotive repairs and service (knowledge of automobiles and their service needs)
•Ability to learn new technology 
•Must possess a valid driver's license
•Ability to use the following:
Hand-held and onboard compression gauges or diagnostic computers
Power tools to remove bolts easily/quickly
Machine tools such as grinding machines and lathes to rebuild brakes
Common hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers for small-scale parts
Computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose/isolate faults

Duties
•Review work orders, discuss work with supervisor
•Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
•Test to ensure systems/components are working properly
•Accurately identify components causing the problem. Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
•Follow a checklist to ensure critical vehicle parts are examined and replace/repair worn parts 
•Inspect parts such as hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems and other possible troublesome items such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems
•Complete reports to record problems and work performed
